Breast Augmentation

Breast Augmentation is a surgical procedure used to increase the size and/or alter the shape of a woman’s breasts through the use of an artificial implant. Women may choose to have this operation to balance different sized breasts, or to enhance the contours of the body. Whatever the specific purpose, women who undergo breast augmentation can expect larger, firmer, and more visually satisfying breast. By altering the size and shape of a women’s breasts, Dr. Ritrosky can help her create a more balanced, attractive appearance.

Dr. Ritrosky offers different incision options:
~ Periareolar (around the edge of the nipple)
~ Inframammary (under the breast)

~Transaxillary (through the armpit)

Procedure Description:

The procedure is done on an outpatient basis under intravenous anesthesia. A small incision is made around the nipple or under the arm and a saline or silicone implant is inserted under the breast tissue or under the breast tissue and the underlying muscle.

Recuperation and Healing:

The patient goes home with an elastic bra or band. The bra/band helps hold the breasts in the correct position. Initial discomfort is controlled with oral pain medication. Sutures are usually removed in 7-12 days. Light activities can be resumed as tolerated. Aerobic activities can be started in about 3 weeks. Remember everyone heals differently.

Other Options:

An additional procedure that would enhance the result is a Mastopexy (breast lift), if the breasts are saggy in addition to being small.
