Procedure Description:
The procedure is done on an outpatient basis under intravenous anesthesia. A small incision is made under the chin. The fat is suctioned or directly excised, muscles are tightened, and a small amount of skin may be removed, depending on individual findings.
Recuperation and Healing:
The patient goes home with chin and neck wrapped in dressings or in an elastic neck sling. Initial discomfort is controlled with oral pain medication. Bruising and swelling decreases over the next 2 weeks.The final result is evident in 1-3 months. Remember everyone heals differently.
