Breast Lifts

Breast lift (Mastopexy) is a surgery to uplift and improve the shape of the breasts. This procedure is appropriate for women who wish to improve breast shape and position. A breast lift raises and firms the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the new breast contour. When an increase in breast volume is also desired, breast Implants may be inserted in conjunction with a breast lift. A breast lift rejuvenates the female figure with a breast profile that is more youthful, uplifted and firm.

Procedure Description:

The procedure is done on an outpatient basis under intravenous anesthesia. The design of the incisions can vary but usually include incisions around the nipple-areolar complex. The nipple-areolar complex is repositioned higher, the excess skin is removed, and the breast is reshaped in a pleasing contour and in a more normal position. The insertion of an implant as well, may or may not be advisable.

Recuperation and Healing:

The patient goes home in a special bra with only light dressings over the incision lines. The bra is worn as a “dressing” for 2-3 weeks during the healing process. Sutures are usually completely removed within 2-3 weeks. Light activities can be resumed as tolerated, usually 7-10 days. Remember everyone heals differently.

Other Options:

Additional procedures which would enhance the result are a small Breast Reduction or Breast Enlargement.
